CODE OF CONDUCT

The Kigali Ecology Tennis Club strives to preserve a safe and inviting environment for all members to use and enjoy.  Fair play, court etiquette, sportsmanship, and respect for others are expected.  These principles are expected from guests and visitors, teaching professionals, parents and from all club members at home or as guests of other tennis clubs.

Principles:

  • Respect for all Club property and facilities, including but not limited to courts, nets, teaching equipment, grooming equipment, furnishings, supplies, and appliances.
  • Be respectful towards all members regardless of age, gender or sexual orientation, race, culture or religion.
  • Harassment is not tolerated and is defined as any comment, conduct, or gesture directed toward an individual or group of individuals which is insulting, intimidating, humiliating, malicious, degrading or offensive.  It includes, but not limited to, sexual harassment.
  • Members are responsible for ensuring that their guests follow this Code of Conduct, and are responsible for ensuring that the guest fees are paid.
  • Board members are required to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of members’ personel

COMPLAINTS AND RESOLUTIONS

​A complaint by anyone against a member, visitor, guest, parent or teaching professional alleging a failure to follow the Club’s by-laws shall be in writing (email) to the President and indicate the specific charges or alleged violations and the resolution desired.
Complaints must be made with 48 hours.
The Board of Directors shall follow procedures for handling complaints in accordance with the principles of fairness.

COURT MAINTENANCE

​1.The courts can only be used when wearing appropriate tennis clothes and tennis shoes.

2.the coaches and the ball boys are obliged to maintain the courts in perfect order.

3.After the use of the facilities, coaches and ball boys must clean the courts as indicated by the directions for use of the courts (published on the courts).

4.Before use, the courts must be watered conveniently .

5.In case of dry weather, it is recommended to water the courts again after usage ,except if other players will use it directly afterwards.

DISCIPLINE

All activities other than tennis is forbidden on the courts.

No animals are allowed on the courts .

It is recommended not to leave young children without supervision on the court and its surroundings .

The throwing of rackets , the knocks on tennis nets and/or on the chairs and/or other forms violence and vandalism is prohibited.

Every player who leaves the court must take away all waste and garbage and to close the door to the courts.

Every member of the committee can recall the bylaws and report every outrages act, which gives him/her the right to prescribe sanctions against the author(s) of such acts.

​Members who contravenes the Club’s By-laws may lose their good standing at the Kicukiro Ecology Tennis Club and be disciplined. The Board of Directors will determine the appropriate action which may include but not limited to:

  1. Corrective action (warning) in writing.
  2. Revoking membership and forfeiture of membership fees.  
  3. Non-members or visitors will be prohibited from returning to the Club.
  4. The Board’s decision in matters of discipline or policy is final.

By Joining our club, all new members must adhere to policies, rules and regulations of the club.
